Considering I was a kid in the 1950s--some of our neighbors and family were born in the 1880s and 1890s-- they were alive in the 50s and I remember them; this is a dear letter to read. Thank you for sharing it. When I was younger a lot of letters included some excuse for mistakes, in a hurry to go somewhere or limited in time or other circumstances somehow. It was a humble apology understood and well received.
Thank you for sharing your experience, Nancy. When I first hear "1800s," it seems so long ago, but once I started finding these family stories and making connections in my mind like you mentioned, it no longer feels that long ago! Then it's amazing what has changed in the timeframe. I remember my great-grandma talking about moving by wagon and horses! Woah!
Yes! And did she talk about bears and mauraders? My mother-in-law was born in 1910 and she told me some of the stories told to her. She said there were a lot of places you just didn't go after dark because it was really dark all over. Electricity was turned on around here in the 1940s.
Crystal, what a cool find! I love that you have shared this with us!
Thank you! I'm glad you found it interesting!
Very interesting. Thanks for posting.

No! Oh wow! I would have loved to have heard those stories!
