Follow-up to Readers Questions & Comments
I just wanted to take a couple quick minutes to follow up with some of the recent questions, comments, and requests I’ve received.
Will I post the link to the digitized map of the the first landowners in Belmont County? Yes! Here is the link to the Historical Map. They have now also created a layer showing the changes in the township boundaries, and our GIS Director also added a layer he made showing the Underground Railroad sites based upon someone else’s research. Those two additional layers are great to tell the visual story of our county’s first 100 years.
For the main link to our county’s GIS site, go here. They have put the old tax maps and even cemetery info on the site. Lots of fun to dig around this page!
Will I speak to a group on some of the topics I’ve written about? Yes! Please contact me.
In response to the recent poll about course topics, I am slowly building one about the community narrative change and including a bit about unlocking verses extracting. I may ask those of you who replied to be my guinea-pigs, if you’re willing.
Thank you for all of your emails. I appreciate your feedback.
Thanks for pulling up a chair and joining me at The Creighton Cabin. If you think any of these ideas will spark conversations, please share the articles with friends and family.
Join me again at The Creighton Cabin as I slowly help rural Appalachian communities unlock their economic potential by challenging and changing the stories they tell themselves. I use local history and genealogy to help communities recognize their strengths and envision a brighter tomorrow. Think of it as community development powered by DNA, not just dollars.
